Borough Gardens, Dorchester

Dorchester Borough Gardens has received a thorough refurbishment thanks to a project financed by Dorchester Town Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

JSCP were provided architectural services in connection with the various buildings within the Gardens.

A new building was required to accommodate a refreshment kiosk and much needed public conveniences. This has a plan form comprising two merged ellipses, clad in a combination of vertical and horizontal oak boarding with a swept flat roof which also provides shelter to the refreshment kiosk.

Borough Gardens House was refurnished to create a first floor gardener's flat over a community room. The ground floor has been extended to provide disabled access and facilities. Other works included the restoration of the potting shed and the design and construction of a new Gardener's Facility Building.
